Safe Spaces

LCAT’s ‘Safe Space’ model provides a best practice service, marrying the skills of a fully qualified and experienced art psychotherapist with an experienced teacher.

We aim to support children who may have pre-existing conditions or are feeling the impact of trauma by providing a safe space where they can relax away from the conflict, grief and anger that they may be exposed to through passively attending meetings with their parents, elder siblings or carers. We aim to keep groups staffed by the same familiar faces each week in order to build trust and relationships. In addition to their professional qualifications and local understating of the community, all staff are DBS checked and trained in safe guarding.

The level of experience held by our staff can also provide access to informal support and advice for parents and carers. Where appropriate, LCAT can also offer direct referrals.

In order to ensure consistent provision we ask for a minimum of 2 weeks booking notice where ever possible. It may be necessary to have additional staff depending on the number and ages of children, in order to comply with safe guarding ratios.
